It's cold out there - bats are well on their way to hibernation. While you shouldn't ever handle a bat, you should also avoid disturbing them if you find one resting in the open.

So, anyone who has lived in Portland or Seattle has probably seen rats - however, what you likely haven't seen is the Fuzzy Tailed Wood Rat - the only native rat to the region.

We caught this one stealing knives, is a mascot of sorts now.
