Stray Bird Dog

Brat out of the southern mountains, served in the air for 3 decades, including too much time with sand between my toes. Practicing Democrat going back to Senator George McGovern's run. Educatid.
Look at her in toasty central Florida in her Navy summer whites! Go Navy, beat Army!! The emotionally attached dog in my house is trucking south out of Alabama in pretty good health, with a strong tailwind.

Can this boy even yearn for mischief full of enough of his squeaky toys? Yes.

Yesterday was the 45th anniversary of a day when someone tenderly enlisted me in the U.S. Navy. Tomorrow is the 26th anniversary of the passing of that man, the long-serving Army colonel, I feel was like a second father to me. I've many reasons to remember the sad day that saw Pearl Harbor attacked.

From my college days there's a friend of Dr. Oliver Sach's who points to poets some fellers might explore.

I've yet a home base to start from if I want poetry from St. Petersburg, FL's Poynter Memorial Library or USF Sarasota. After days here of Gulf coastal rain formations soaking this dog and I, psychologically, we're putting FL family on notice we may trek south soon (have library card, will travel)🚗

I'm still unpacking books from boxes I feel. There's surely another place here to be in touch with Sexton's poetry. I'm a child of those post war years when General Eisenhower became president but, perhaps, Sexton wasn't prized then.

As in Cohen? I'm tippy toeing up to the edge of the poetry Grand Canyon but I like it. I was reminded of Anne Sexton by the radio storytellers tonight and I'm going to look for her in a likely place. I can post a picture pretty soon of my go to book.

Woot, woot! I, too, got up and got back in the fight so I could pass go of chemo and go directly at last to do our mutual adoption with this shelter pet, Charlie. I will hug him some more tonight in this happy glow you gave us.

Fortunately I retired from the Navy with both hands and am able to wield tissue or handkerchief deftly twice if needed. Unless we're talking about a nose near the eyes in the back of my head. That might require using a mirror and backwards dexterity. And potential whiplash when I sneeze.

Oh my word, I've not thought of Jack in months! When you see this, post an image from your gallery to describe your mental health.

By the way, during today's cold rain I dug up the phone number of my lovely local library near the gates of our Army post full of all sorts of students on duty in various services (some international) and our managing librarian, a treasure, renewed 3 Dr. Snyder books she bought since I needed them.😃

Good night. Good news arrived just a moment ago from Troy Public Radio's signal: Institute for Museum & Library Services has restored withheld grant $.

Forge ahead, Possum neighbor. I'm in a position to read about people's lives like history professor Timothy Snyder's but I just can't overlook a possum or a turtle or a bunny.

I'm fortunate in the strong circle of folks here who have deep understandings of Texas and what we used to lovingly call "Uncle Sam."

May their everlasting fame envelope you & your's. My cutie patootie out of the Tampa dog kennels at the Sheriff's Shelter this Shelter Animal Day has fierce stares for me as I practice skillet cooking for one. He'll get his pills in the remnant of this dated Spam. Lentil& roasted veggie soup's next.

My choice for a dear one was to ease her out of a 1970s faux wood paneled Pinto station wagon that gobbled gas. It was when in America Ford chose to let a Pinto sedan flaw go unremediated so that a bumper bolt speared a car gas tank (not in wagon model). Kids burned alive. I chose our Honda Accord.

A moon like a balloon, once again. I think I'll go show it off to Charlie the stray bird dog and we'll duck any low flying Alabama bats with cold stiffened wings and dodge the land damaging armadillo. Good night!

When the park attendee struck by the fowl regained consciousness I reckon her thoughts turned swiftly to making much booty, singing under her breath "Oh, them golden slippers, oh! them golden slippers!" You bird watchers out there among cruel ducks will get what I mean. Snowy Egrets have gold feet.🕊️

Once upon a time I was a po' boy in Louisiana. John F. Kennedy, in Congress, was running for president as a uniter. Stefanik, predictably, is not any kind of uniter. I wonder what her district in NY looks like. Their shores probably aren't blighted by offshore oil platforms that'll do BP Oil Spill.🥺

So, that's Murdochs' and NYC's Wall Street Journal giving Rep. E. Steph a bunch of free ink during her campaign for Guv of NY while simultaneously giving hapless Louisiana a kick while they're down, from top to bottom. Along those lines we're to see ICE raids soon crank up in New Orleans. Fishy!

Hope floats (a line I recall children used in a John Irving novel)! They were talking about their dog, too.
Nope, a boop like the one I got a little while ago and caught on camera.
Charlie doesn't check around my tub to see if I'm soup yet. He doesn't view me as a person in a punchbowl. Yuk, yuk!!

Secretary of Naw Hegseth says, naw, he wasn't in the room where/when I feel war crimes happened. In those moments after, my Navy flying work would've been to do rescue on the scene. Taxpayers pay for aircraft carriers to do rescues at sea where required. Hmmh, Veep Bush wasn't in Iran-Contra's room?
