The numbers aren’t attached to anything and those the top are losing money “on paper”, but I’d imagine a “transfer of wealth and power” is taking place. Today AI is the vehicle for that transfer, and the actions or beliefs of the average person might not count for much without collective action

It’s definitely wild to see such high numbers flying around based on hype. I wonder though if the majority of people had correctly seen AI as “just hype” from the start if our situation today would be all that different. Those in power fuel the hype as it serves their goals: use money to get power
