I’m far from perfect, but these are things I’m trying to implement from now on! I want to better myself mentally, but also in terms of my stance on the world and current events.

10. not caring

I care too much about what people think of me and am often so caught up in my own anxiety that I think of nothing else.

I really want to change that and be my own person, not trying to change myself for others or being around people I don’t get along with!

9. waking up earlier

I have been trying to fix my sleep schedule and wake up ~10am or earlier to hopefully make myself feel fresher and more awake generally <3

This also prepares me for when I have a job and need to be up early!

8. not responding to texts instantly

I’ve always been racked with guilt over not responding to my messages or clearing my notifications. But, in the grand scheme of things, a few hours with no reply from me isn’t the end of the world and it will help my mental health! (unless it’s an emergency ofc)

7. dressing for me, not for others

I do this mostly, but I often feel I have to dress a certain way so I don’t look “weird” or I only buy clothing that fits with what is trending/ “aesthetic” rather than what I like. This needs to change!

6. buying second hand

I buy a lot second hand, but I want to make it far more often & possibly solely buy from places like Vinted, tk maxx and charity shops if possible!

5. consuming more media

By this I mean watching more films and tv, rather than short-form videos. It goes without saying how much this will benefit me, but it also hopefully means I will finally work through my watchlist! I also hope to get back into reading, but I won’t pressure myself <3

4. choosing my video games more wisely

I want to play more cozy, slower games rather than fast-paced, multiplayer ones as they feel better for my brain and mood. I’ll also be choosing indie games over large companies, especially when making purchases :>

3. being more creative

I want to draw more and maybe learn to sew! When I’m bored I need to use that time to be creative and make things like I used to when I was younger <3

2. using more physical media and 🏴‍☠️

I’m off Spotify because of the ceo and the things he is supporting, as well as the use of ai on the platform. I’ve converted to sound cloud, though I’ll be prioritising physical media over streaming. Most streaming services are built on toxic capitalism 👎👎

1. uninstalling social media

aside from bluesky, I’ve uninstalled all my socials (instagram, facebook, tiktok). this is to cut out doom scrolling but also to reduce the feeling of needing to present myself a certain way!
