Happy (or just delirious) Dad with tolerant family, filling in odd spare moments & dreaming of Spitfires. Ramblings are my own, reposts aren’t.
Superb @daraobriain.bsky.social Re:Creation show at Manchester Opera House. Best comedy gig this year.
But Lordy, the dreams afterwards...😂 #IfYouKnowYouKnow

Best wishes to our Northern IC chum Erik who was injured returning from WHW Fest whilst trying to perform aerobatics in a Landie.
We will of course be hearing about this endlessly at the Northern IC Pub meets.
Get well soon Steak Donkey. #WeHaveWays
The Northern IC sends our best wishes and a crate of pies to NW stalwart @riksbar.bsky.social who, returning from WHWFV, tested a Land Rover's ability to drive on its side.
Spoiler: it doesn't. Ouch.
Get well soon Erik, the pub meets are waiting. #WeHaveWays #NWmanDown

This weekend marks 35 Years attending Duxford airshows. Travelling from Aberdeen or NW England.
And 30 Years as a Sally B supporter.
A happy place.
Blue skies, warbirds. WNTL?

It’s simply the best WW2 warbirds weekend of the year.
Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow.
You know what you have to do

Unbelievably/worryingly happy to come across extended unused Battle of Britain film footage at the superb RAF Museum Hendon.
My full Battle of Britain nerdiness confirmed.

You know it's almost Duxford Battle of Britain airshow weekend when you're watching the weather app hourly.
Last year's flypast was great BUT 15 Spitfires and 8 Hurricanes to be flying this weekend.
I may need to lie down in a darkened room.

Happiness is a rare and very welcome evening of nothingness and this...another superb edition.
Under Ben Dunnell's stewardship, Aeroplane has become that rarity..a must have print magazine that you know is worth every penny of the subscription.

Sorting through a mahoosive pile of books acquired/given over the last few years.
Fellow BoB film nerds will look at this and bemoan the lack of a 110 in the film.

More sorting of books and these photos drop out.....both captured Luftwaffe. Fw189 at RAE in Oct 1945, no info on the rather sad 111.

Sorting out some piles of,well, piles of books.
Came across these RAF Yearbooks.
The memory of the excitement of junior me visiting the RAF recruitment office to pick one up.
And the Wilf Hardy covers...sigh.

Great episode - for memoirs I’d like to nominate ‘A Thousand Shall Fall’ by Murray Peden. He was a Canadian pilot with 214 Squadron, flying Stirlings and later Flying Fortresses as part of 100 Group. It’s fantastic and think it’s still available free on Audible if you’re a subscriber.

Truly exceptional day at the Festival of the Unexceptional!
Massive nostalgia fest in a very relaxed gathering, over 1000 cars. Superb.

Another fantastic thread by Jamie.
Must confess to a strange fascination with the Manc..A failure in its own right but led to the superb Lancaster.
Many moons ago, had this Diverse Images (now Staples & Vine) signed by a vet who whilst loathing the unreliability, had a grudging affection for it.

Just had my BlueSky age verification using facial scan.
It took only a few seconds to decide I was old and crinkly.
I could be offended. 😂

Working at home.
Long day.
Little break.
Leans back and thinks of Spitfires.
Sigh.
Bring on the Duxford BoB show...

Hugely recommend following Jamie, posts on WW2 aviation are always interesting and usually revealing. #WW2 #Avgeek
13th July, 1944. At 4:25 AM, a twin-engined aircraft was spotted near the emergency RAF airfield at Woodbridge, Suffolk. It was assumed to be a Mosquito returning from a raid and it quickly landed. But the aircraft was, in fact, a Luftwaffe Junkers 88G night fighter.

Doggo noted my kind offer of an early morning pre-heatwave walk and promptly advised she has the RSPCA on speed dial and instead wants gravy bones in bed.
On a loser here. #LazySunday

There are many innocents who attended We Have Ways Fest 2023 who are still in therapy or simply in denial after the last public viewing of THOSE trousers.
A huge amount was however raised for charity..but...but..the psychological impact...Lordy. Rock on Mr W...
