BTW, for those who haven't heard it, listen to Duran Duran's Medazzaland. It's one of their best albums to date and it's, loosely, a concept album.

Great choice. You’re right about it being ‘complete’. I’m looking forward to choosing a track from Pop Trash. That’s in my top three Duran LPs and is from an important era - like a final blow out before the reunion.

For me, Medazzaland portrays what remained of Duran Duran as a confused, paranoid, and possibly lost group of musicians but it’s also one of their edgiest records with some great guitar 🎸!! Stand out track for the deep cut playlist has to be the brilliant Be My Icon. What would be your choice?

By this time, the band were a trio of Le Bon, Rhodes and Cuccurullo; although John Taylor was credited for writing duties. He left to form his own band Terroristen. But which song will I choose as the album’s deep cut?

Medazzaland has, of course, since been released worldwide - including vinyl for the first time in 2022 and I’m delighted it’s now in my collection. Out Of My Mind was released internationally in March 1997 and had some fabulous remixes available. Electric Barbarella followed six months later.

Medazzaland (apparently a reference to the painkiller midazolam that Simon Le Bon had during a visit to the dentist!) was released in 1997 - but only in North America, Japan and Latin America. So fans outside of those territories (like me) had to reply on imports!
