St. Peter’s turned out for the Hands Off March last Saturday in Philadelphia. Thanks to members of our Social Justice Discernment Group for organizing this group to go together!

It was a joy to worship with the Rt. Reverend Daniel G. P. Gutiérrez of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania this morning. Congratulations to more than 20 St. Peter's parishioners who were received, baptised, or confirmed during the service.

Women at work! A small team of dedicated volunteers spent time last Saturday digging up deeply embedded invasive bulbs from the Memorial Garden. This work is part of a larger plan to renovate this portion of the churchyard. Big changes to the garden are coming this spring!

It is with great joy that we announce the Rev. Laurie Jean Wurm has accepted the call to become the 22nd Rector of St. Peter’s Church! Rev. Laurie will officially begin her ministry with us on August 5.

St. Peter’s Church is shining a spotlight on food insecurity and diving deeper into understanding this complex issue. In March, we welcome guest speakers to share their expertise at 10 AM at our Parish House at 313 Pine Street. We hope you will join us for one or all of these programs!

Thank you Rev. Canon Toneh Smyth for joining us this past Sunday. Rev. Smyth preached as part of St. Peter's Women's History Month Celebration, where each Sunday in March, there will be a woman in the pulpit. It was a pleasure to have Rev. Smyth here at St. Peter's!

St. Peter's clergy distributed ashes to dozens of commuters at Washington Square Park this morning. "O God, may this Lent be a time of inward searching that makes me more able to look with compassion at myself and at the needs of the world. Amen."

A full house at St. Peter's for our annual Shrove Sunday Pancake Breakfast! Thanks to our youth and children for cooking and serving our delicious breakfast.

Each year on February 13, the Episcopal Church celebrates the Feast of Absalom Jones, a day to honor the first Black priest in the Episcopal Church. Absalom likely attended church at St. Peter's in the 1770s and later obtained his own freedom and organized the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas.

As part of our celebration of Black History Month, the St. Peter's Choir sang “Hold On!” this past Sunday, arranged by black female composer Dr. Diane Clayton White. This anthem reflects themes of faith and resilience, music that celebrates the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality.
