I don't understand the critique of "the Madleen was an attention seeking stunt".

Yes, and? It was a stunt to draw attention to Israel deliberately starving an entire people, facilitated by the West.

That was literally the entire point

While many Quakers experience the Light Within (the Inner Light, the Light of Christ... it has many names) as a comfort, it is worth remembering Margaret Fell's words: "The Light will rip you up, lay you open, & make all manifest which lodges in you." It might show you things you don't want to see.

I've always been fairly ambivalent about rhyme schemes in poetry but seriously does it make memorising a piece so much easier

a successful push by HTS ousts Bashar al-Assad and Syria's 13-year civil war starts winding to a close. the IDF sees this & thinks, "you know what they need? more war"

in my devotional readings I've been working through the book of Job & it's kind of Kafkaesque. like his entire life collapses in the span of a couple of days then three old friends turn up, not to comfort him, but to propose lengthy arguments as to why he must've done something to deserve it

it has been so windy in the night that my window blew open & the mandala cloth I'd pinned up in lieu of curtains was blown off its pins. so now I have no curtains & have effectively lost a significant sentimental item. thanks wind

I know this probably sounds pernickety but I truly don't understand the recent slangisation of "win" as "W". like, the former is one syllable, the latter is three. this doesn't count as shortening. just use words

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.

Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Each year, the trans community loses too many lives, especially trans women of color, to hate and violence.

More than ever, we must stand by our trans family and support them, hold space for them, and insist the scapegoating and targeting stop.

Now.
