I have always had an art account and a personal account over on meta - not wanting to bombard people who didn’t sign up for it with pics from my studio. I liked having people who intentionally followed my art practice. I’d like to be a more whole version of myself on this app, though, sharing it all

Since my BFA, I’ve gotten frequent feedback that my work reminds people of deep sea creatures and coral reefs. I think I agree with the association on this one-though it wasn’t really my intention! I’ve just been exploring new shapes and trying to push the limits of how delicate I can get clay to be

The hand sewing community meet up that I went to was awesome! One of the cutest things they had us do was sew our name tags. I went to my ceramics class the next day and was like “I should make a media specific name tag for this too!” Now it’ll sit on my workspace like a little name plate.

This week, I got to try out a new ceramics thing: engobes! I didn’t even know these existed until this month, but it’s essentially a cross between slip and underglaze. This one will make my white clay sculpture look like it was made out of black clay - and any glazes I add to it will be interesting!

Hi internet friends :) There are like… 30 of you but that’s a huge increase from the 2 I had a few days ago! I think I’m going to use this as an art studio diary for my ceramics, fiber arts, found object art, and digital drawings.

I’m working on a scrap yarn throw pillow, and it’s the first project where I’ve actually set out with a goal and crocheted it. It’s imperfect but I’m proud of it!
