Tariffs do not help us. They hurt us, especially our farmers and small businesses. Working and middle class folks are disproportionately affected as the cost of living increases due to higher prices. We need to be better citizens of the world, for ourselves and for others.

I support local businesses as much as I can rather than chain stores. As American consumers, we are truly citizens of the world in our day to day living. So I do not understand the isolationist nationalism under the new administration. We need the world and the world needs us.

The jeans I am wearing were made in Egypt, my morning coffee is from Columbia, my cell phone was manufactured in India and assembled in China. My avocados are from Mexico and occasionally I enjoy French champagne. My tv was manufactured in Japan and some of the components were made in Brazil.
