Conservatism is the mindset of fear of progress. It’s the mindset of feudalism and monarchy. Pull the ladder up behind you to protect only yourself. It’s not built for nuclear bombs and AI, automation and the internet. A society that wants to grow and flourish demands progress and safety for all.

Thirty years from now, when the baby boomers are dead, and the birth rates keep falling, and all the jobs are automated and outsourced, what will be left in the USA? All the housing owned by corporations, an aging working poor population, and crumbling infrastructure? Growth is unsustainable.

I love when people present anyone who disagrees with them as “the bad”. People do realize that choices have collateral and unintended consequences right? Most things are a lot more nuanced than one study, video, or book can present especially given natural human biases.

You don’t change your mind because you refuse to consider an alternative that is presented to you. I don’t change my mind because no alternative is presented to me.

I’m not an advocate for AI as it is, but it has definitely exposed education as being woefully outdated and lazy. Why professors think that they get to use all this tech to make their jobs easier but that students shouldn’t and wouldn’t is naive. Traditional homework is dead.

Just saw a guy crying about the ethical failings of not citing the source of your internet memes. I know that idiot isn’t trolling 4chan and fanfics to ensure proper sourcing on every image macro out there. I’m sure there’s better ways to waste your time.

I can’t believe that people here think that treating people like shit is a viable way to win political ground. Socialism won’t happen by purity testing nor by posting on social media. If you don’t understand the importance of coalition building you will never succeed. Change won’t happen all at once

I have no problem using Linux from the command line for server management, but every distro and every computer I’ve installed it on for desktop use has suffered from freezes and crashes. Complain about Windows all you want but you don’t need an IT degree to make it work.

I will never stop being amazed by the anti-establishment brain rot. Be comfortable in your cozy homes in your safe neighborhoods built by the system. Keep complaining about corruption and misinformation when you can't even read past the headlines. Must feel good to have zero responsibility.

Populism and anti-intellectualism go hand in hand. It feels good to “fight the man” even when it’s the billionaire president and his billionaire friends telling you not to trust the science, or trust journalism, or trust education, or trust the government. Surely there’s no conflict of interest.

As long as enough people on your favorite social media platform support vigilante action, murdering people on the street is okay and reporting the person committing that murder makes you evil. I’m sure glad people are educated on healthcare finances, criminal law, and psychology.

If you want to understand why healthcare pricing is horrific, the first thing to know is that our system puts 100% of the credit risk for deductibles, copays and co-insurance on hospitals and doctors. That's insane.

We have turned them into Sub Prime Lenders 🧵

Since joining Bluesky I’ve read the phrase “difference without a distinction” so many times and it’s starting to strike me as pseudo-intellectual. You can’t just scream strawman fallacy and win the argument. Claiming fallacy doesn’t prove it.

Anyone who trusts conservative politicians and media right now has never “done their own research” about the 2020 election. The amount of proven evidence of lying that is still believed to this day is unbelievable. You all are lucky Biden has more ethical restraint than your disgusting criminal cult
