My sister had a electrical contractor that announced he was leaving for 6 months in the middle of her job because he was depressed because his wife left him.

I hate hugs except from a few people, one of whom is dead, but I don't think it's related to adoption. I wasn't always that way. It comes with my growing dislike of humanity in general and how I want to disassociate myself from it.

Again, have fun. I apparently lost all but files when I attempted to transfer them to my new computer. They might still be on the old computer's hard drive, which is one of my next projects. Good luck!

6/ Sorry to hog up your post. But I wanted to bring a little in a little history. BTW, Nancy never intended her book to de-fang the movement. She has always been an ally, but unfortunately some people preferred to play victim. And, of course, politics is dirty. Now I'll shut up.

5/The local adoptee rights group in Portland refused to let BN and M58 supporters speak at their meetings. Even when we won, there was still a lot of opposition to a militant movement. Begging for crumbs was still the rule. Now what we developed is SOP.

4/Bastard Nation was founded to bring politics back into the area. It was al battle We were constantly attacked by other adopted people.So-called "adoptee rights" organizations said we were destroying the movement. The AAC donated a whopping $100 to OR Measure 58 that restore unrestricted OBC access

3. Eventually, search/reunion became the entire point. Sure there lots of complaints, but very few people wanted to get their hands dirty. The movement degenerated into a whiney entitled thing. Even Jean Patton, founder of the modern movement became persona non grata.

2/When I got involved in the movement in 1980 it was understood that politics and search/reunion were components of the movement. A successful search, for ex. was a big FU to the state and industry. Politics was dropped for all intents and purposes.

1/ The big problem with PM is that it hijacked the adoptee rights movement of the 1980s in that it delegitimized the political implications and class war aspects of adoptee rights and turned adoption into a personal issue/problem with some kind of personal solution.

After the 8/28/91 coup attempt in the SU, the 6 generals who planned it went away to their dachas for a few weeks, picked mushrooms, and played with their grandchildren (I watched this on Russian TV news) and came back. Nothing happened to them. If it hapened there, it can happen here.

While many mothers abandoned “illegitimate” newborns due to social stigma, others were forced by poverty, leaving open the possibility of retrieving their baby in the future. Mothers did return, but sometimes it was too late (see alt text). The mortality rate of abandoned babies was very high. 5/
