It was an active investigation under Obama, and it was evidence in the case against Maxwell under Biden. Releasing the files then would have given them a huge out. Like, moving a convicted child sex offender to a minimum security prison big. Trump level pedophilic corruption.

Liberalism also includes democracy, which is as unpalletable to the right as capitalism is to the left. It is an attempt to reconcile the two. Hence my description of it as essentially centrist.
Forms of liberalism that put democracy above capitalism are center left. Which is left of what we have.

Lander earned a lot of political capital by stepping back and supporting Mamdani instead of pushing his own campaign forward. I hope this goes well for him.

Liberalism is centrist. People who self describe as centrist tend to be right wing, but that isn't the same thing as liberalism being right wing.
The right think liberalism is left wing because they collapse all distinctions between things they dislike. I hope we can be better than them.
