Finally got the grinder cleaned up. The gray paint flaked off easily, but the blue paint. I don't know what kind of communist era cancer concoction that paint was made of it was impossible to remove. Chemicals, wire wheel, nothing worked. In the end, a sandblaster did the trick.

Recently I asked my grandpa if I could have his old bench grinder. He said yes because he didn't use it anymore. So I took it, but man, I remembered it looking better than this. Guess sitting in a damp shed for 30 years sure takes its toll.
