Looking closely at WI, and uh were they unable to confirm one happened in Milwaukee? (I’m not the best at geography but I think the unlabeled one in WI is supposed to be Madison but it looks a bit too far east, Madison is northwest of Rockford IL)

To be fair to my friend, I came out my senior year of college, but there was an incident my sophomore year he was there for where a different friend asked me point blank if I was gay and I just didn’t answer. At all. A solid minute of awkward silence.

Finding out from a friend that I before I did so I was given the nickname “Closet Ginger”. (Which is admittedly lacking context I don’t have room for here, so for real it’s also just realizing that a lot of the anxieties I had about it were unfounded)

I was 23 in 2016 (and by extension 12 in 2005) and most what I remember from the mid 00s is my cohort using “gay” to mean anything with negative connotations. (We did get a less rosy picture of Columbus than what they told us when we were 6, but that’s not the same as “America is evil”)
