🧪It's #fossilfriday and I feel fine! Here's one of my favourite 'almost' fossils, from the flood plain of the famous Snowy River Victoria, Aust. Did they make it? Unlikely. Are they are good example of process in action, absolutely. Ditto mud cracks & younging indicator. #geoscience #earthscience

When is a fossil not a fossil?
When it's actually a very cool, doubly pseudomorphed, mineral with a very important palaeoclimate message built-in despite having a plant based common name. #FossilFriday #EarthScience #geoscience 🧪

Not Friday here yet but might be busy so here is my contribution: Isograptids from Victoria, Australia. One might even be Isograptus victoriae!
Ordovician black slate, from one of the best graptolite stratigraphies in the world 😀

🧪Thinking about restarting a print-on-demand store for nerdy geoscience graphics to keep my mind busy while I'm out of action for extended medical treatment. Not so much art as quirky graphics. What objects would be most popular for xmas stockings? Mousepads/Playing cards/etc? #SciArt #geoscience

Not quite Friday yet but will be offline. Here is an internal cast of a brachiopod cut open to reveal the nature of the fill but it reveals something else. Can you see what it is?

Spring in southeast Australia is very nice today. Here are some of the 80+ flowers in our garden today:

Clivias? Evergreen fleshy strap leaves with annual flower spikes. Orange common, but yellow and white too.

Here is are 2 sites that can be photographed by following the flysch sign at Zumaia 🧪 There are something like 8 km of continuous, conformable outcrop on this stretch of coastline with 2 golden spikes and the K/Pg boundary if I recall correctly. Game of Throne fans will also recognise this location.

Spain has some amazing geology.🧪 Zumaia is a must see but while there I also photographed my favourite road sign of all time. What's not to like about a sign with the word FLYSCH on it?

Greetings from Australia. I recently had the pleasure of seeing this rock on Kangaroo Island. A really nice metasediment but not gneiss!🧪
