But they plan on updating it to match arcane I think. They at least confirmed that Arcane is canon. They just haven't updated the lore for the game on that yet.

Yup, if you come from Arcane you should not start playing League just because of arcane. The lore is not playing a major role in the game outside of some themed changes to the map and the voice lines of champions. The lore of league also differs from Arcane as of now.
