Living a more stoic life.
Seneca: “We should hunt out the helpful pieces of teaching and the spirited and noble-minded sayings which are capable of immediate practical application…”
Dog’s Take: “Fetch the best sticks and bones that are fun to chew and chase—not old shoes or the mailman’s leg.” 🐾 #stoicism #stoic

Socrates: “No one is wrong on purpose.”

Dog’s Take: “No one is wrong on purpose. Even when I steal a sandwich, it’s not wrong—it’s destiny. Okay, maybe it’s a little wrong… but still.” 🐾 #stoicism #doggystoic #stoic

Seneca: We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.

Dog's Take: The dog who barks at every shadow wastes its energy and misses the real bones.

Marcus Aurelius: “Today I escaped anxiety. Or no, I discarded it, because it was within me, in my own perceptions, not outside.”

Dog’s Take: “Today I escaped anxiety. Or no, I shook it off—literally. Turns out, the scary thing was just my reflection in the water bowl.”🐾

Marcus Aurelius: “The best revenge is not to be like your enemy.”
Dog’s Take: When the neighbor’s cat hisses, I don’t hiss back. I wag my tail. Confuses them every time.
Simple, stoic, and dog-approved! 🐾

“The more you struggle to live, the less you live. Give up the notion that you must be sure of what you are doing. Instead, surrender to what is real within you, for that alone is sure....you are above everything distressing.”

#Seneca: “I pity the person who hasn’t faced adversity; they don’t know what they’re capable of.”
My Take: Adversity is when the treat gets stuck under the couch. But I dig and paw until I succeed. Adversity builds character… and hunger!

You could be good today, Marcus Aurelius says, but instead you choose tomorrow.

Memento Mori – Remember you will die.
Dog’s Take: “Sniff every tree like it’s your last. Because one day… it will be. And that’s okay.” #mementomori #stoicism

Stoic Self-Talk: “Amor fati” – Love of fate.
“Whatever fate throws at me—a leash, a bath, or the vacuum—I wag my tail at it. Except the vacuum. That’s asking too much.”

Seneca: "We treat the body rigorously so it's not disobedient to the mind." That's why I chase my tail?
