Pretty much all of this is a result of extremely antisocial people attempting to distance themselves from the world through the accumulation of vast and immoral wealth, as it turns out. The AI thing just puts a fine edge on it.

I've taken to thinking of it as "algorithmic plagiarism," which is a much more accurate description of what they're doing.
