This siren bested me last time when I recorded it. Actually I bested myself by somehow accidentally recording at 48khz. But NOT TODAY. Today I came 192kHz/32bit ready to both capture ultrasonics and not worry about gain. #fieldrecording #warningsiren #soundeffects

Happy #sounddesign accidents are my favorite.

Great sound, minus the view for #chicagoairandwatershow Day II

I captured some really great stuff yesterday. Hope today is the same!

Will be sharing some of these recordings later on for free in a blog post or something. SMASH THAT FOLLOW BUTTON.

Excited to see what I capture this year! 🛩️

To be fair I'm only going stereo this time, but same location. Away from all those noisy people who carelessly verbalize their amazement at a military jet flying directly over their heads 😆

Chicago skyline post sunset from the Indiana Dunes. I think next time I'll come prepared with a second camera for photos during the sunset! #chicago #skyline #sunset

Chicago skyline sunset from the Indiana Dunes.

First attempt at capturing this. Only happens during two short windows of the year. I'm so happy the planning & weather worked out!

Thanks to @victwav.bsky.social for the assistance in the cold and @cshimala.bsky.social for the inspiration/tips!

You can't go wrong with @mattiacellotto.bsky.social Animal Hyperealism SFX and Byome. Nothing like what I intended to create, but here we are 😆 #sounddesign

Another odd #sounddesign day. Now with 50% more Atmos!

I use my own #collectedtransients sound effects a LOT... but these two projects came to mind during my interview with @victwav.bsky.social

The PS Plus backlog continues with Abzû (@giantsquidstudios.com)

If there was a polar opposite of the last game I played (Death's Door), Abzû is it. What a relaxing and beautiful shift. A nice story/message with zero dialog and chill vibes only. Recommended.

Week 2 of me becoming a regular at the Puerto Rican restaurant down the street.

Café con Leche, Lechón, Arroz Amarillo, & Habichuelas Guisadas.

I was recognized. I ordered the Café incorrectly and we laughed about it. Also I found out the place has been around for 75 years!

So freaking cool to hear how and talented designers are using #collectedtransients in their #sounddesign

Hear from Robbie Stambler, Dillon Bennett, @ghaddad.bsky.social, Gurwal Coïc-Gallas and Juan Uribe.

If you use an indie library in something fun, let the creator know. It'll make their day.

Continuing my PSPlus backlog with Death's Door (Acid Nerve) @autotwitch.bsky.social

Wow! I haven't been challenged by a game like that in a while. The fact I still wanted to beat it despite the difficulty speaks to the experience! Highly recommend. Really enjoying trying all these new-to-me titles.

Week 1 of me becoming a regular at the Puerto Rican restaurant down the street.

I made small talk about tenderizing steak and pronounced my dish correctly. A great success.

My goal? I don't know but I love Cafe Central.

I'm starting a monster of a backlog of PS Plus games that I've remembered to grab for free over the years. If I play it and know right away it's not my jam, I delete it. If I dig it at all, I'll at least attempt to play it through. First up: Everyone's Gone to the Rapture @thechineseroom.co.uk ...

Been using Transmutator more and more. The "Transient" setting is one I hadn't used before. Keeps the transient of the source, and tail of the side chain. #sounddesign

One last Byome video for the week never hurt anyone. This time #sounddesign for more scifi ship bys! Sourced from a Jeep Trackhawk recording by @victwav.bsky.social and I.

Anyone using their iPad/tablet for sound design? Now that I'm doing more #sounddesign work at home I'm loving having a new tool to work with. Here's my DAW <--> iPad flow:

In more Byome/Shitty Talk Back Mic news... I had to do some odd voice processing for a scene and saved this preset: "That Guys Voice Makes Me Uncomfortable"

Try out the preset if you'd like:

Very handy! Knowing the Reaper community, I'm sure it's already out there. But I've always dreamed of something like this except it makes regions based on wherever there's not empty space. The idea being you have multiple sets of crossfaded items that make up regions rather than single items.

Recording your own sounds is the best for #sounddesign. This is a (not great) recording of rolling a pool ball on guitar strings that I capture like ~15 years ago that came to mind while designing a scene. There's no library that you'll know better than the sounds you capture yourself!
