Gardener Mice

Continuing our look ‘under the bonnet’ of what keeps our parish ticking over, this week meet the Gardener Mice. These mice look after the plants around the Church and by the memorials, keeping the area neat and tidy. They also grow plants for fund raising during the year.

Let us give thanks for all the gifts we have received from God, our Father; also for His continued love. We have many things to thank God for – family, friends and all our spiritual needs. We see that the goodness and love of God follows us all the days of our lives.

Lord, help us not to seek the applause of our friends and colleagues, but rather to look to You for approval. Teach us to put into practice the principles of the Sermon on the Mount. Amen

I waited patiently upon the Lord; he stooped to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the desolate pit; he set my feet upon a high cliff and made my footing sure. He put a song in my mouth a song of praise to our God; many shall see, and stand in awe, and put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:1-3

Dear God give us the mind the heart and the strength to live for you. Walk with us and work through us so we may be faithful in prayer, grow in holiness and draw many to you. As we walk in the power of the Spirit transform us into the likeness of Christ, to the glory of your name. Amen – Peregrini

This article was written for inclusion in the December 2025 issue of our parish magazine. In mid-December 2024 Rev Christine cam to me with a suggestion of a new anthem for Christmas – “but not this Christmas”, she said, “it’s far too short notice!” I found the sheet music, loved it, checked with Tom, and bought it. We offered it at the midnight and Christmas morning services that year.

Letter to the Parish
This month's letter comes from the keyboard of Rev Christine: I pray that each of you has experienced a joyful Christmas, surrounded by family and friends. I also trust you have enjoyed all the traditional trimmings, taken time to celebrate the Christmas story, and had the chance to reconnect with those you may not see often. As we step into this New Year, may I wish each one of you a very Happy New Year, as the days grow longer and we begin to look forward to the promise of brighter days to come.
