Mike Johnson just pulled the vote on the budget resolution. This thread explains why.
Republicans can't go forward with their reconciliation bill to cut taxes for the rich while taking away Medicaid and SNAP until they can agree to an identical budget resolution in each chamber.

The House is holding open an unrelated vote as leadership is meeting with the conservative holdouts on the budget resolution.
The issue at play: the Senate version gives flexibility - and the right wing holdouts are worried that they could walk out of this without *enough* cuts to Medicaid & SNAP.

Federal workers mandated to return to the office full time and hiring at the IRS frozen until the Secretary of the Treasury decides it’s in the national interest to lift it?

Seems like today is as good a day as any to say this, and I realize the mechanics were convoluted (they’d have to be), but I liked the idea of Harris’s unrealized capital gains tax.
