Saint Louis DSA Statement on Gov. Kehoe's Deployment of the National Guard 10/08/2025 Saint Louis DSA opposes Governor Kehoe’s authorization of the National Guard to “assist with administrative, clerical, and logistical duties at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing facilities within the State of Missouri”. While this is not the extensive deployment that our comrades have resisted in Los Angeles, Portland, or DC, we know that President Trump—encouraged by a wealthy railroad CEO—has his eyes on doing the same to Chicago, Memphis, St. Louis, and numerous other cities. This authorization coincides with the Trump administration’s violent, illegal arrests of our undocumented neighbors here in St. Louis and beyond. In Chicago, we are seeing a growing crackdown on migrants, protesters, and anyone who dares to push back against the occupation of their city. Through ICE and the National Guard, the far-right is attempting to drive a wedge between workers. The wealthiest people in this country are abusing some of the poorest to keep them scared and vulnerable. As socialists, our response to this attack on the working-class is the same as all attacks on the working-class, whether it be on our trans family, our unhoused neighbors, or our union comrades: an injury to one is an injury to all! Alongside our friends in MICA, DSA is training workers to keep our workplaces safe from ICE on October 15th. And at our recent local convention, DSA committed to participating in immigrant justice and rapid response through our new Streets Organizing Committee. If you have been waiting to get organized, now’s the time to join DSA or another organization ready to fight back. As ICE violence escalates across the country, St. Louis needs to be ready for it to happen here.
