oh hey, government, this is why you SORT OUT THE FUNDING SYSTEM for universities alongside getting governance sorted. Because otherwise you're going to have to keep throwing good money after bad. Because we all know you cannot afford a university *actually* going under, however ballsy you sound.
Scottish government Ministerial statement on Dundee University confirms an instruction to the SFC to provide £40m to the university, on top of £27m already funded. A £40-£60m liquidity gap remains, to be filled from commercial sources. Presumably the public money de-risks the prospect for banks

Amazing that when a distressed university's financial situation is subject to parliamentary hearings and an independent investigation, the senior leaders and governors resign and redundancies are called off.

We need this level of scrutiny for every university in England.

Absolutely infuriating that this is the end point of vastly inflated salaries for Vice Chancellors and other top admin whose obsence pay raises at a time of pension cuts were always justified on the grounds that only they could manage the new era of competitive marketized higher education.
