One of many good pieces in print NYT Opinion section: John Garnaut on how Trump's perverse combo of hostility to allies + TACO to China is empowering PRC and undermining Taiwan.

Whether "inadvertent," purposeful, merely incompetent, or corrupt, it's dangerous.

The political class and business elites would be happy to see attention to Epstein fade away. But the broader public won't allow it. They correctly sense something is rotten about the earlier investigations (or the lack thereof) and the current coverup...and they're right.

NEW: A baby held in immigration detention became so sick, she had to be rushed to a hospital in severe respiratory distress.

“She was at the brink of dying,” a lawyer told me.

But the girl didn’t go home after her 10-day hospital stay; instead, ICE put her and her mother back in lock up at Dilley.

A Kansas man wrote an op-ed criticizing local police for cooperating with ICE. Instead of respecting his First Amendment rights, the police used automatic license plate readers to track him in hopes of finding wrongdoing.

We must keep getting this easily-abused surveillance out of our communities.

Despite making $89.5 BILLION in profits last year, Amazon paid just 3.1% in taxes.
