I think you captured Hamaguchi’s intent here, it is perhaps the most important facet of game development. I think MFR’s just banger success is testament to the same principle Hamaguchi is sharing here. building the bones of a great RPG with modern tools is blend of the tech and the talent.

The King, once again, sharing truth. tbh I think you are really touching on a bigger story here, because if SQEX is ever going to be able to deliver some of the big titles we know and love, they need to harmonize and consolidate their dev teams, not tear down or move around after a project ends.

Tifa and Cloud’s journey in this series is insanely engrossing. Since October 2020 when I first played Chapter 2 till now, I have been fixated on these two. All of the moments between them we haven’t seen yet has me sheltering myself and pining for Part 3.

I feel you. I think Shadow of the Erdtree was added to check a box, and to increase engagement, however mixed. If it does snub MFR or REBIRTH, I will feel certainly crestfallen.

I’m with you 100%. I think the most charitable take is to call out DLCs so they can include games that did attempt a push themselves, so they at least get the recognition. But if they win…yeah it’s not a good thing imho. Bad precedent.
