Memories from travelling a long time ago, 1994. Part 3
Me interacting with the locals.. Kids by the river, how their lifes must have changed now. 1994 I know. I am an idiot and I should have known better… but I have always been very fascinated by animals. Back then I did not know I would become a veterinarian, the idea came up while walking through Central Sulawesi with Dutch Erik and Svaneke, a couple we had met just before joining up for the walk. They were both veterinarians and told me so much about it, it sparked the fire in me. I did study biology at Copenhagen University first though, before I finally found that Vet Med was my answer. Memories from travelling a long time ago, part 2, 1994
Irian Jaya. Just walking up the hill with some pigs, holding hand with my new friends and surrounded by the chief and his men, who stayed with me and took care of me, as I later passed out on the way up. I had Cholerae. They would not leave me, before I seemed better. 1994 Chief in village. Just love those feet. Curious children who walked along and “talked” through smiles and fingertalking. Memories from travelling long ago in 1994.
1994: My first long trip travelling. Found my pictures the other day and lost track of time. So young, barely 22 and so determined to follow the foot steps of the heroes of my childhood, the Danish explorers Jens Bjerre and Arne Falk-Rønne. They were the reason I worked so very hard to gather money and then travel as far and long, as I could afford. Learning so much about the world along the way. Pictures here are 1) Young me on Bali at Christmas. Crossing the jungle in Central Sulawesi by food, with 3 friends and a blurry handwritten map. Sleeping in villages as we came along. Children screaming at the sight of me, as they thought I was the white ghost their parents always said would come, if they did not behave. Here a farmer we met, wanted to show us the megaliths on Sulawesi. Megalith Sulawesi The way out of the jungle, after 6 days of walking from village to village with three friends, no guide. 9 hours of driving in the mud. 1994

10 years ago I opened up my veterinary clinic. Always had a life full of animals, pets and wild ones too.
So grateful for my wonderful employees to be there with me in my life. You make it better everyday!!
