📈Going viral shouldn’t be the main goal when telling science stories on social media. Impact should be. Inspiring curiousity, provoking thoughts, and helping people to understand the world better.

My main takeaways:

🤝 If we want better public understanding of science, we need better collaboration between scientists, communicators, and journalists, and that’s exactly what initiatives like the ESMH are working towards.

So this June, I had the privilege of co-hosting a masterclass on science storytelling on social media alongside Pierre Girard, as part of the summer school of the European Science Media Hub (ESMH), a program designed for young science journalists.

I casually told a friend: "Wouldn’t it be cool to visit the European Parliament one day?" But when I said that I wasn't expecting I would actually visit as a speaker. 🇪🇺🤭🧵 #scicomm

We are starting to clear out their home these holidays. For me this Christmas holds the echoes of who they once were - the stories they told, the laughter they shared.

Featuring some of my grandpas oil paintings depicting Germany‘s wild life and cattle.

In the brain, sex hormones are involved in many different processes that go beyond sexuality and reproduction. They can also affect mood, cognitive function, and pain sensitivity just to name a few things. Estradiol for example is very important to protect our neurons from damage.

In the end, we all have an individual cocktail of all sex hormones circulating around our bodies. Mainly, but not exclusively depending on our genitalia and on the stage of life we are in.

There is no "male-only" or "female-only" sex hormone. Yep, you read that right. You've probably heard that testosterone is the male and estrogen the female sex hormone, but what if I told you that we all usually have both?!

This quote by my psychiatrist and meeting other neurodivergent people in STEM has really helped me to accept my place. YES, #AuDHD and research can absolutely fit together. For sure there are struggles, but I also think neurodivergence comes with a lot of strengths that are beneficial for science.

It’s #MentalHealthDay and I want to share a part of me that I haven’t been comfortable with to share on twitter:

I’m #AuDHD.

#Throwback One of the coolest opportunities I had during my stay at Penn State University in the US this year was to use rodent fMRI in *awake* rats! Can’t wait until all the processing is done and I can hopefully share some data! 🧠🟦 #fMRI
