Orioles, Ravens, WVU, go sports! Former newspaper guy. Current purveyor of society's flotsam and jetsam.
Regardless of his abilities, we can all agree this is the worst possible name for a relief pitcher. That is until Johnny Blownsave makes it to the show.

Ruthless efficiency, well done

Love that Topps used the same photo for the 1963 and 1964 cards.

Hey, if we crop the shot a little tighter, nobody will notice!

They will all come out of the game after their intended number of at-bats anyway.

Williamson tripped me up as well. I thought for sure he bounced around after his Orioles tenure.

I had the same issue with the center square. Had to go outside of the Orioles, but still thrilled with my 10 score.

Many of the weird / incorrect names my kids gave things years ago have entered common usage. In our house, Santa Claus is now usually referred to as "Ho-Ho"

They immediately flipped Howell for Phil Bradley, who was a key player on the 1989 Why Not? team. Then they traded Bradley at the 1990 deadline for the corpse of Ron Kittle.

So, yeah, awful trade. But Howell / Bradley was the best part of it.

His physique, the era he played in and the sudden power spike at age 32 raised ALL of the red flags.

I loved his game. He drew a ton of walks and later really embraced getting hit by pitches. He's far and away the franchise leader in HBP.
