Oil pastel on paper, 8x10". Trying to focus on value more than color makes it weirdly hard for my brain to make color choices I like, it seems, but that should get better with more time and practice. #oilpastel

Oil pastel on paper, 7x7". A street in my neighborhood. I drew this from a photo I took, not on site, still using just my travel set of 36 colors. That's a ginkgo tree on the right, and it's already gone completely brilliant yellow in the few days since I took the photo. #oilpastel

A Drink. Oil pastel on paper, 8x8". Tried using Paul Rubens (previously been using Mungyo), and the softness forced a looser, more painterly look. They get muddy fast if you're not careful, but overall they're pretty good! #oilpastel

Orange Kettle, oil pastel on paper, 4.75x4.75". First attempt with quality oil pastels and I LOVE THEM. Feels like drawing with little sticks of butter. Will definitely need to make future pieces larger, though, since I'm not great at getting clean lines or fine details yet. #oilpastel
