Ok, I'm not crazy, right?

Gavin Newsom looks just like the mayor from Buffy, doesn't he?

Without downloading any new pictures, where are you at mentally?

No cheating. Your last saved celebrity pic is your therapist.

I haven't re-watched BSG in a while. Could be topical...

I've had the Cold Steel Spartan on my wishlist for nearly a decade, & this Christmas, someone finally got it for me.

I don't think I'll be making this my EDC any time soon though. Here's a comparison to the Emerson-Kershaw CQC-4KXL, the largest knife I'm comfortable wearing into work- also too big.

I should've vacuumed between pieces so I could keep the dust separate and bottle it up for filler :-/

Live & learn.

Got some scrap hardwook from dad's over Thanksgiving to rehaft these axe heads.

Boy's Axe for dad, using lumber he harvested.

Tomahawk for my brother. Going to sharpen the hammer end to a spike.

Hatchet for mom with the real pretty dark wood.

Got out the jigsaw & cut the rough shapes today.

Just watched George Romero's 1981 American Ren Fair Epic I Had Never Heard of, "Knightriders".

Amazon Prime was all "hey, you wanna watch this thing about jousting bikers", & I figured it was a B movie Mad Max ripoff apocalypse nonsense, but it is not.

Too long at 2:25, but also kind of... great?!

Hey, it chops stuff and everything.

I'll do a little more shaping on the handle- maybe carve in some jimping?- add a lanyard, olive oil and beeswax, and make a belt sheath.

I think this one's a Christmas present...

That haft's both too short & the tongue is just too small; that head would be flying off sooner rather than later.

I restarted with a longer piece, & just used my belt sander.

Shocking precisely no one, I got a vastly superior- if somewhat less soulful- result in a fraction of the time.

I whittled a haft for this little hatchet head I have. 2 problems.

I think I made the tongue too small for a wedge to reasonably overcome the gap between it & the eye.

This handle is probably just a TINY bit too short to really be usable.

What say you?
