Living moss, air plants, and other greenery make up a headdress and body armor draped on an ebony female mannequin. This piece is part of an exhibit at the Sturt Haaga Gallery within the grounds of Descanso Gardens in La Canada. The exhibit is called "Daphne's Wardrobe: Metamorphosis Into Nature." This particular piece is created by Melissa Meier and the exhibit wall states: "The difference in Meier's armor is that it is not modeled on male battle attire but on a transfiguration into nature, becoming one with it." When Tiny Lantern visited this exhibit, a worker was gently spraying the piece with a fine mist of water. This exhibit runs until June 1, 2025.

Black and white photograph of married artistic partners, Diane and Leo Dillon. They both gaze off into the distance but appear to be looking at the same thing. Diane and Leo met at Parsons School of Design in 1954. Before dating, they were fans of each other's work and this admiration started a life-long collaboration of illustrating books. They have received many awards, including the 1971 Hugo Award for Best Science Fiction For Fantasy Artist and the Caldecott Medal in 1976 and 1977. More about this husband and wife team can be found at R. Michelson Galleries. This is an illustration titled Spirit of the Reef that appeared in Spectrum Magazine Issue 21 (Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Covers) Original illustration by Leo and Diane Dillon. The painting features a female underwater entity amidst fish and aquatic plants. The colors are aqua blue and turquoise.
