It’s Thursday! This week’s #ThursdayFeature is our amazing Consultant Lead for Research, Dr Phil Moss! Phil is an excellent educator and facilitator of research development of clinicians in ED, and his own research interests include CO exposure, medicines management in older adults and polypharmacy.

Our first #ThursdayFeature has to be our incredible Research Group Lead, @godalmingjarman.bsky.social! Heather has lead or been a co-applicant on over £1.6M of successful grant applications, with topics including carbon monoxide exposure, elderly patients and ED workforce and service improvements.

Finally Dr Ben Bloom hosted our keynote speech and presented on the use of large datasets in emergency medicine. There are many different databases available through @nhsenglandldn.bsky.social which can be utilised in ED research! #stgEDresearch

Our academic research fellow, Jared Charlton-Webb, presented on the FacED study. This exploring patient and staff views on the use and acceptability of smartphone camera technology to record facial vital signs. The study has just opened at SGH ED and recruitment is going well!

@godalmingjarman.bsky.social presented the EDCO studies exploring carbon monoxide (CO) exposure among ED patients. We successfully obtained funding for two new studies: EDCO-D will explore the prevalence of missed diagnoses in EU EDs and EDCO-H will explore CO exposure in ED patients with headache.

Excellent talk by @vickym0208. RCEM/RCN workforce standards suggest one consultant nurse per ED. The ConNur-ED study found only 37 across the UK. The study found that consultant nurses/practitioners spent the least time undertaking research within their role compared to the other 3 domains.
