However when #stfc are pressed in build up play, Mabete drops into the box, & taps the goal kick to Ripley who then makes the pass to the other CBs. With Wright and Wilson-Brown split to the touchline, any attempt to press with three can’t really work and so gaps have to appear. Or Ripley goes long.

When playing out from the back, Mabete is clearly not the desired route for passing out either. His stats show a player who is keeping it simple, moving the ball to others quickly and crisply. Some of this is down to experience, but he is asking Tom Wilson-Brown to play out also

Mabete is top for clearances in the squad which hints at the slightly simplified role he has been given - perhaps as a result of those early moments of uncertainty. His season heatmap v Will Wright shows the limited nature of his role. 2/6

I love Drinan. He’s a force of nature, a perpetual runner of such dreadful persistence. He is also currently scoring plenty of goals, but he’s such an inelegant striker of the ball: stiff, slightly off-balance, always trying to hammer everything. Glorious. #stfc

I know this is a minor complaint with all that goes on at #stfc but please stop using AI to write stuff for the website. Or at least prompt the water-wasting bullshit engine to use the past tense about stuff that has already happened.

I think the big question is: in late May when the sun is up until 5 am until 9 pm, how the hell did the club manage to take his publicity photos in the dark? #stfc

#stfc being linked with Oldaker now ex of Chesterfield. Likely the Clarke replacement in CM as he drops deeper. 4.0 ball regains per game last season. So a tackler but this season has been his worst for cards: 7 yellows, 2 reds.

It is worth noticing from yesterday’s win over Barrow just how much Kilkenny was involved in the game: 76 touches, 49 accurate passes (84% completed) and 9 of 13 ground duels won - and one key pass (the assist for the goal). #stfc
