Just an old guy who likes biffing about in his old cars, old stuff and has a dog which is becoming increasingly old looking, even though the little squirt has the same amount of vim as a 2 year old.
But perhaps not for as long..!

Thanks, yes there seems to be a myriad of reasons for the issues. Touch wood I've now got a set which have some thermal paste behind them, I believe it prevents the build up of condensation when starting from cold. I'm in Southampton, I see you are in Sydney, I visited back in 23, loved it!

Excellent. Mine is a 91, same blue black but grey interior. Has yours had any cold start issues over the years? Mine has had new dizzy caps and rotors more times than I care to recall

The 24v 2.8 loves revs, it's done 250k miles and still loves 6k rpms. It has vvt which works at about 3850 rpm, comes on a little like a honda VTEC. I'll bet the 12v sounds lovely and cultured and probably has better low down torque

Aah, sorry no my e280 is an auto, 4 speed. The 996 is manual, 6 speed.

Wow, just wow. Love that write up Drew. Oh, the comment "the first of my 600sels ..." 😄😄

Excellent! Thanks!

It's good when it's good and shit when it's not. It doesn't like town traffic or short journeys. Do too many of those and it's hard work, crashy, noisy and with an iffy clutch pedal. Get it up over 50mph on fast, twisty roads and you have for it spot on.. sublime in every way

...so I'd love to know more about your experiences with those!

Hehe I'm not sure taste is the right word, affliction more like. So, I also have an r129 500slnin spookily the same colour combo as yours I think... Blue/black? I haven't owned a 140 but would love to, ever since being picked up from HK airport in one and taken to my hotel, it seemed sooo refined

Fantastic insight into the gubbins inside the dash of my s124 280e, I'm no mechanic so this stuff would only see the light of day at the same time as the inside of my wallet at the local indy. Amazing, thank you!

My dad was torn between one of these new in 1979 or a used triumph tr7. He bought the TR7, because when you have 1 child and another on the way, it's what you do. I do like the look of this though!

Can't imagine him ever being sober enough to drive it back then

Best handling car I had until the 996 I now have. Shame it threw a piston through the block, it was a lovely lightweight little car

They look amazing! What brand(s) are they and what scale?

You will see me there!

I'd say VW Sharan as it would probably be quite easy to remove but then you'd strain something in your groin area and putting it back is a task and the wife's now fed up with you and those screaming kids and i... Sod it, I'll leave it here and pick it up on Wednesday. And that was 1998..
