Fungi covered Beech log Fungi (and slime moulds) found on one Beech log, including: Bleeding Fairy Helmet, Hairy Curtain Crust, A toothed crust fungus of some type, Turkey Tail, Grey Disco, Strict Coral, Small Stagshorn, Trichia sp. Slime mould, Lumpy Bracket, Stump Brittlestem, Crystal Brain, Coral slime mould, Candlesnuff, and a few I haven’t identified yet.

C. militaris is a parasitic fungus that infects insect larvae, replacing the host's tissue to grow and eventually sprout from the host's body to release its spores.

I think this might be Ascocoryne cylichnium - Budding Jellydisc (rather than the more usual A. sarcoides, Purple Jellydisc). On rotting wood in a Dorest woodland. 1/11/25 #fungi #dorset #powerstock
