They have their issues but doesn’t stuff like this make you favor 401k and individual control of this stuff? If you don’t want to support this then just don’t buy any of it

Blocked for complaining about social media logistics.

Very cool. I remember seeing those back in the day and not knowing what the heck all the ports were on the back of it.

Later after I started messing around with old tech stuff I used a Lombard IR blaster to load apps onto a Newton. Fun times!

That’s awesome. What model is it? These super old power books are starting to get a bit harder to keep alive. Parts are hard to come by.

This looks so good

What are you doing to that thing

I remember struggling to play left 4 dead on the original version of this computer - I am sure this would have helped it along quite a bit

For sure. One of my favorite rock albums of all time. Do you have any other favorite rock albums? I am trying to find new stuff to listen to or old stuff to relisten to

It’s not good

Chappell roan is a theatre person whose entire act draws on the past century of film and stage. I am extremely confident she knew quite a bit about her and probably lots of people less famous as well.

This has definitely been a severe start to winter - tons of wind and wildly fluctuating temperatures.

Cheap gas is cold comfort when food has gotten so expensive. 20% cheaper gas saves most folks $20-60 a month when food costs have close to doubled. Like a cheap TV when you can’t afford a house

Such a great album. I didn’t realize that the singer played bass including the in the meantime riff. So good

I was very late to this party but after hearing just the first track on this album I went on Discogs and bought the CD

For the influence it had on bands of the 90s we will allow it. I was too young and missed it when it came out and did not hear the songs on the radio either. But hearing it after listening to Toadies, Modest Mouse, etc felt like uncovering a foundational text

But things like massive side panels that reduce lines but cost thousands to replace even in minor accidents, poor charging performance, extremely heavy weight, is probably another 2-3 years off if it happens at all. I still really like the cars but after the price hike they are too expensive for me

I think things went seriously wrong for them when they never shipped a profitable gen 1 product - gen 2 is but mostly because it is slightly worse. That should be out weighed by their getting to IPO at $78, a price their stock will never see again. I do think they will update R1 with new computers

For their price I wish Rivians were slightly better. Not supporting them at all but Tesla did a lot to improve a similarly left behind car and I am waiting for similar updates from Rivian. Sound quality, weight reduction, 220 outlets that actually work, etc

Ford needed to update the entire drive train. Super complex, months long repairs, It was a first gen product and to update it probably cost more than it was worth. I think their next BEV effort will be strong. I do not want a gas generator at all though

Each month if you have personally listened to more than 5 minutes of that person talk besides Ms. Rachel (who is for kids) you have to hit yourself in the head with a hammer. You can ignore these people. They are attention vampires stop giving it to them

What is that thing? Extra SATA ports?
November 19, 2025 at 1:52 AM
A fine article for sure - I remember how meaningful each of those changes and upgrades were. Many changes these days are so iterative but these were massive leaps forward every couple years
