They’re so committed to their cause that they cover their faces to avoid being identified as supporting it. Let that cognitive dissonance sink in.

Maybe this is a language issue, but defending oneself is not the same as proving one’s innocence. This is why defendants who prevail at trial are found “not guilty” rather than “innocent”. It’s about who owns the burden of proof (in criminal matters, this is the prosecution).

It’s actually up to the other side to prove you’re guilty.
