They couldn’t find one that meets NWSL standards which is why they are at Lumen Field.
I was with the Reign when we had to leave Memorial Stadium and Cheney Stadium due to the leagues standards improving. And CBA saying no baseball fields.
Spokane or Portland I guess. Still a farce.

None of their other games are going to come close to this figure and for a fledgling franchise who is not dripping in money, it is a huge gamble to mortgage the future on breaking records for an opener.

Surely this is because they hadn’t planned to open the upper levels and they sold very late. And they aren’t going to buy in a ton of merch when they expect lower attendances. Merch takes months to come in.
Concessions need 3 weeks notice to open them up, or not possible if not in original contract.

The artists team can put a floor and ceiling on resale tickets that go through Ticketmaster.com
Artists are either lying or not informed by their team when it comes to the set up. The venue might use Ticketmaster but they can set their own limits.

With global warming, that will help, but reg season in Oct, Nov, Dec too, right?
They will be in the new 20-25k stadium, making much more per game than at Lumen (except for when they move any Messi game back there), so the owners and investors will be happy.

I’m unconvinced in terms of increasing attendances, improving quality etc and the US just have tired players at the end of an MLS season rather than at mid-season power.
Hard to sell games in the cold and wet to middle class fans. Hoping they have all the sports news attention for playoffs I guess.

It is interesting that they are allowed to play in baseball stadiums when the CBA is clear that players should not play on converted fields like that.
