It is very depressing that I had better survival plans for zombies than I did for Temu Na$is, and waiting for the inevitable societal implosion is exhausting. Being far from the centers of power doesn't help my frustration and outrage any.

Heading north today to visit Mom and my Aunt Brenda. I was super smart and scheduled this visit to include my estranged sister's birthday ( totally forgot tbh ), so don't know if that makes an awkward encounter more or less likely. Wish me luck!

Validation feels nice!

Today I took cans to the Can Shed ( for non-Iowans, to get the $.05 deposits back ), and got 4 crisp, uncirculated one dollar bills, straight from the bank, from the year I was born. Series 1969, Series 1969A, Series 1969B, and Series 1969C.

Despite the existential dread of watching my deplorable country collapse around me, day by day I still gotta feed my family, call my mom to see if she is out of the hospital yet, and go to work. In some ways zombies might have been easier...I had contingency plans for zombies, but not for fascism.

And so it begins. My SIL just had the cops show up at 9pm for a "Wellness Check", and when asked why someone would call in a wellness check they claimed it was because of something her husband had said on social media. He mostly post pictures of art or videos of playing his guitar.

My Grandparent's generation didn't fight in WW2 for this country to become what they were fighting against. They were far from perfect, but they would be ashamed and outraged.

Life stumbles on, and today there shall be Tacos!

I've passed the first milestone in my Bluesky journey. After only two days I've blocked my first account. Message from stranger, seemed human ( because conversation went quickly from small pleasantries to sob story and offer to sell nudes ) but straight to a bot response once I politely declined.

Working the Early Shift for Holiday Overtime pay. Should be sleeping instead. I will try to focus on "I have a Dream" instead of "We have a Nightmare". Good luck to us all!
