On this date in 2001, the very first iPod was available for sale!

"1,000 songs in your pocket" before syncing and streaming to phones was a thing. Ah, those were the days 😄

Down the road from us, there are two houses that are only 500 feet apart. However, it would take 21 minutes to drive from one door to the other.

This town is so interesting!

I just got off a Libsyn Connect call where I was a guest on @podCast411 with Rob Walch. We got real nerdy about half-way through 🤓

And yesterday I was interviewed by Seth Resler for his new Community Case Studies podcast.

Both will be out in the next few weeks!

In the past 24 hours I've seen three powerful woman leave major roles at the company they worked for.

Two seem to be going self-employed, while one is transitioning to a "sister" company.

That's a lot of change in my world, but all I can think about is "Watch out world, here they come!"

Earlier I shared podcast download stats from Libsyn.

Buzzsprout, which offers a free hosting tier, shared theirs too:

Top 50% of episodes get 28 or more downloads in the first 7 days (Libsyn reports 30 day average)
Top 25%: 111
Top 10%: 449
Top 5%: 1,036
Top 1%: 4,351

Words that don’t mean what they used to:

“Bad” now means good/awesome.

“Slap” means excellent, impressive instead of challenging someone to a duel 😄

“Let’s Go” is said when celebrating the end of a great performance rather than at the beginning.

“67” means basically nothing instead of a value.

Libsyn stats for September 2025 showed the following:

If you have more than "x" downloads per episode, you're in the...

Top 50% 124
Top 20% 1,000
Top 10% 2,700
Top 5% 5,800
Top 2% 16,000
Top 1% 29,000

There are three things I hear people regretting not starting sooner:

#1. Saving for retirement

The benefits of saving sooner than later, even small amounts, can have huge implications on your future. The Compound Effect is real.

Don't be milk toast!

Have you heard this in podcast interviews: "I think people need to think about how they think about..." or any variation of this?

...or the answer is the same one everyone else gives?

When replying to a question, answers should never be vague, directionless, or predictable. ⬇️

I just sent in my answer to Dave Jackson's "Question of the Month": How many episodes do you listen to a week? And of those episodes, how many different shows are there?

You'll hear it on Monday's School of Podcasting.

I'd love to attend a ton of in-person conferences for free - and know exactly how to do it!

I just have to get a job with a company who sends their staff to the expos.

But I used to travel a ton for a day-job and yearned to work from home. Now I want to go to in-person events all the time? 🤪

Paying off a mortgage or using the Debt Snowball instead of Debt Avalanche method to pay off debt flies in the face of the math.

But choosing to do so has nothing to do with math! It has to do with quality of life, cash flow, & reducing risk.

I'd trade math for those things any day! (And I did)...

Netflix could be contributing to the confusion of what a podcast is if BOTH are true:

A. The show is only available on Netflix

B. As Dan Barrett points out, Netflix won't play the audio if the screen being unlocked podnews.net/update/zoom-...

Otherwise, it's not a podcast - it's a Netflix show.

I know they are trying to find clients and earn money, but most of the time I find these "I help podcasters rank #1 on iTunes" pitches are not a legitimate service.

But this guy got my attention.
