Heads up if you park in #Denver. We found these 10 days after someone filed a 311 complaint about them. Who knows how many people scanned them in the meantime.

“It could be in your fridge right now. What is it? And what will it do to you? We’ll tell you tonight at 10.”

Could a headline/graphic/post be any more clickbaity?

I have questions. Like… what other species care for giraffes in this country. And how old are their giraffes?

Did you buy a Ford Lightning pickup truck this year? Having an issue with your state tax credit? Let me know.

Wait! Don’t Click That!

Heard a lot about Facebook hacks lately. I’m pretty sure these messages are where they start.

Meta’s not going to have some dude reach out to you to tell you your account violated rules.

They voided the tickets of the 5 consumers we spoke to who parked at 1522 Boulder. PRRS told me most had been voided before I contacted.

Parkwell encouraged anyone who got a ticket to reach out to them - info@goparkwell.com.

For their part, both PRRS and Parkwell told me this was a glitch between a payment processor and PRRS' enforcement equipment. Processors are supposed to talk to the cameras to tell them if there was a payment associated with the plate photographed.

Weiser told me ticketing paying customers wasn't part of the alleged conduct. He said the company that owns the lot should provide a receipt so you can prove you paid.

Last summer, PRRS settled with the Colorado AG over allegations it violated the Colorado Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Among those violations... ticketing drivers who entered the wrong plate #, parked elsewhere, or paid after grace period.

Daron Atkin paid at the kiosk on a date night with his wife. He got an $87 ticket too. He sent PRRS his credit card statement. An attorney initially told him the ticket would be overturned. Then called back 2 mins later to say his statement showed the transaction posted a day after he parked.

McKenzie Gunderson was driving a rental car visiting friends back home in CO. She and her friend were at a ring-making class across the street. McKenzie paid $17 to park according to her Apple card receipt.

Weeks later her rental car company forwarded the ticket.

I checked my e-mail and had another tip about this lot. Then I looked it up online and I found a mess of Google reviews of people telling the same story. They paid to park, got a ticket, then the company wouldn't accept a credit card statement...

This time, his credit card statement showed the transaction posted the following day and PRRS' collection attorney wasn't accepting it. Said he needed a receipt.

Mark had a text message from the parking session but the receipt wouldn't load.

Mark Chapleau e-mailed me after he parked in a Parkwell private parking lot near 15th & Boulder. It was the second time he'd paid to park then got an $87 PRRS ticket for non-payment in the mail.

The first time he showed his credit card statement and got the ticket overturned.

My inbox is full right now after we aired a story this week about a parking enforcement company called PRRS.

It started with a tip from a Denver attorney about a problem at a parking lot in LoHi. Pretty quickly we found quite a few people who had the same problem... 🧵
