In 2006 Mike Judge released a film "Idiocracy" a satirical take on the decline of intelligent political discourse, amongst other extrapolations for the future of humanity. Twenty years hence, it turns out it was a prescient documentary.

This was 8 years ago today. I walked away from this with a few scratches and a bruised ego. Now I only have 6 lives left. Apparently? That's the Wye Valley road. There is a sheer cliff face on the other side of the small wall with a 500m drop.

I think, perhaps, that Jimmy may have vastly overestimated human nature. A billion years is nowhere near long enough to resolve our issues. A species that is unable to learn from its own mistakes is doomed to repeat them and infinitum. If alien species have been observing us then they know that.
