Taiwan isn't being colonized by China. Both claim to be the legitimate government of the whole of the China. They both agree they are China, but disagree on who the legitimate government is.
It's not the same as settler colonization that Israel is doing.

Yeah but China's not going to restart the war. It's just propaganda. They know they need the people of Taiwan to accept their leadership. The best way to do that is not a war that will attract the US into backing Taiwan.

The countries in blue recognized Taiwan as the legitimate government. Gray are neutral, and green recognize China proper.

If that mattered, then several micronations would be full nations. What matters is that the UN doesn't recognize Taiwan and sovereign and independent.
