Morning, Giles. I watched a few minutes of the BBC News on TV this morning. At the tickertape-style headlines at the bottom of the screen, it said that Elon Musk and Prince Andrew had been named in the Epstein files which have already been released. I think there are more files to come.

Charles Handy (author of Gods of Management, The Empty Raincoat etc) wrote about this nearly 50 years ago. He said many of us will not have full-time jobs but will have "portfolio careers" in which we divide our time between working in an office, working from home, doing voluntary work etc.

I am a linguist. I speak German and French but I don't feel very European. I live on the coast and I know that we instinctively cling to our connections with Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia etc, where many of us have relatives. I have been ill for a long time so you may not remember me.
