Personal opinion: If you're not using your real identity in your social media, you're either a bot or a lightweight. Be real or go home.
Anyone know when this will be available for preorder?

“paying for the ride.” (Blue Sky really needs an edit feature.)

You’re paying for the right. You totally have the right to ask your driver to adjust the temperature to your liking.

It’s going to take something akin to the kind of obvious psychotic behavior you see in deeply troubled homeless people. Functional psychosis isn’t blatant enough to break through. Maybe if he runs across the East Lawn trying to catch demons or starts clucking like a chicken during a press gaggle…

Which would also require an amendment. Which would require either 2/3 of the Senators to vote for it (not gonna happen) or a constitutional convention (which would be rolling the dice in ways we don’t want to imagine).

Literally none of it. You have to get up early and work really hard to be that confidently wrong. Are we sure he's not an AI in a bad wig?

It’s not, but the East Wing has no constituency. Everyone’s seen The West Wing. Lots of people have seen The Residence. Nobody has the faintest idea what the East Wing does.

I discovered Heinlein in my 7th grade block class (early 80s English / humanities mishmash). It wasn’t on the curriculum but was on the teacher’s shelf for “advanced reading”. Started a lifelong obsession with big ideas and futuristic concepts.

My first experience with cyberpunk was JWW’s Voice of the Whirlwind when I was in 10th grade. I re-read it a few years ago, when it was 35 years old. It had some holes, but generally held up well. The tech was a little dated but the story still had me turning pages.

Apologies for a noob question: When this happens (the Blocked thing) does it mean you (Tom) blocked the poster, or that the poster blocked you?

Um... Contrarian view (at least on this site), but we've also seen Hamas break ceasefire agreements. There are no good guys in any of this. Nobody deserves the Nobel prize here.

She totally makes Donna Tartt and Harper Lee look commercial.

I like the idea of he-who-apparently-should-not-be-named as some kind of moldy Babylonian god... "Trump the Trumparian. Trump the destructor. Volguus Zildrohar, the imbecile has come."

Yes. But is that different than any other nation?

Imperial Britain built an empire. Napoleonic France tried to take over Europe. Germany tried to take over the world. Twice. Italy? Romans. Spain? Conquistadors.

History is bellicose. Peace and tranquility are very much modern inventions.

Phi Alpha, brother!

There’s a lot of space between forgetting and punishing. Forgetting will get us back to this point quickly. Punishing will get us back to it even faster. Look at the Israel / Palestine situation: no good guys, and no way out of the cycle.

If they opt not to grant cert, does that leave the EO permanently enjoined or is there some other mechanism that they can use?

You and @wilwheaton.net just posted very similar messages. Curious if it's the same good news for both of you.

So HHS… Department of Death? Shorter. Kind of catchy. More accurate.

What happened with the Ford F-150 Lightning? IIRC, you had a deposit on one a few years ago. Or was that Krissy?

Ok, I'm guessing Chris is busy doing actual work so.... Any other legal scholar on this thread have an opinion? I really want to know where the "omerta" doctrine comes from and why they adhere to it, especially now.

Chris, please give us your best understanding of why the three Democratic appointees don't simply start blogging or posting TicToks or something? Why aren't they explaining to us what's going on inside the court? What do they have to lose?

Dipshits on fire off the Shoulder of Orion. C grade intellects glittering in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate…

Yep. Tony Gilroy's take on the Star Wars universe blows everything else out of the water. The original trilogy is fun and cute, but Rogue One and Andor are gripping, thought provoking entertainment of a different order.

Seems to have figured it out in the end:
