Yesterday, we celebrated the recent success of Dr. Marcin Wysoczynski, who was awarded a five-year NIH R01 grant to study how specific types of neutrophils shape the wound healing response after MI. This award marks the start of a new chapter in our understanding of the failing heart.

New publication from the Sansbury lab. This study shows that the ALX/FPR2 signaling axis is necessary for red blood cell homeostasis and that LXA4 activation is important for red pulp macrophage response to acute erythroid stress.

Ever wondered how cardiac substrate utilization impacts exercise capacity? If so, check out this new paper in Circ Res, led by Kara Gouwens in the Center. This work shows that cardiac ketone body oxidation is required for hyperketonemia-induced increases in exercise performance. #cardiosky
