With Megan Vahsen and collaborators on Sapelo Island collecting cores. The goal is to resurrect ancient seeds from the cores and see how the plants have evolved over time.

Surveying mangroves near Port Aransas Texas. Four and a half years after winter storm Uri, which killed most of the mangroves, most of the intertidal remains an unvegetated mudflat.

The GCE implementation of the global DRAGNET disturbance experiment shows little recovery in tilled plots almost two years after the last disturbance. Tilled plots have subsided a couple cm and are a pretty hostile environment for plant growth.

As part of the annual conference for the Texas Society for Ecological Restoration in November, ~40 attendees from across Texas toured the prairie restorations at the UH Coastal Center. Afterwards, students from the University of North Texas got their hands dirty and helped control tallow.
