She was, understandably, concerned about how she and her family will fare under this new administration and a president deeply opposed to immigrants from places like South America, but even with that, she believes in the promise of the United States of America. 3./

Since she spoke very little English and I speak even less Spanish, we communicated using translation apps on our phones and had a truly lovely conversation. She's trained as a massage therapist, but this was the only job she's allowed to have at the moment. 2,/
