I've pointed out to people that you are praying for the president, not to the president.

For any govt official, intercessors are praying for them to carry out their duty wisely and rightly for the people entrusted to their care. It would seem the current president needs that prayer as much as any.

Simplistic spin-doctoring of the facts.

A bishop preached holy scripture in a church at the president. He didn't like it.

EMM is one of the 10 agencies with a federal contract to help resettle refugees. He has now suspended all federal assistance.

"We become morally better as we learn to see others deeply, as we learn to envelop others in the kind of patient, caring regard that makes them feel seen, heard, and understood. This is the kind of attention that implicitly asks, 'What are you going through?' and cares about the answer."

Using an evening or Sat. block as one of the 10 must be offset somewhere.

Treat family/personal life as a committed block same as church. Schedule them just the same.

Luckily, I had a rector who supported/insisted on this. I would have burned out in my first two years otherwise.

Did not invent this, but saved me as a curate: rethinking the week as "blocks" of time. Morning, afternoon, evening: you have 21 blocks/week.

Tasks must fit into 10 blocks, which can change each week.

Do not just add tasks into open blocks. If you add a block for work, it comes off somewhere else.

I absolutely quoted Bishop Budde's words and commended them to everyone.

Congratulations and thank you for serving. God's blessing on your call.

A good number of visitors, saying "it's been forever since we've been to church, this gave us the nudge to come back" and "we wanted to hear what you have to say here" (checking on if Bishop Budde is an outlier or the norm).

Not that quoting scripture from the floor of congress is even an issue. They're fine with the congressional chaplain opening every session with prayer, quoting scripture just about every time:
